Whether you're trying to conceive naturally or undergoing fertility treatment, the team of experts at Centred Health's Fertility Support Clinic can help to significantly increase your chances of conception through a combination of Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Nutritional Analysis and Hypnotherapy. The clinic has a close working relationship with the local fertility consultants at Mayday and Shirley Oaks Hospitals and so is able to offer treatments that complement the conventional medical approach.

ACUPUNCTURE AND CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
Most patients attending the Fertility Support Clinic have been diagnosed with unexplained (or psychogenic) infertility, and Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques can be used to diagnose the reasons you and your partner have been unable to conceive or why you may be suffering from repeated miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies.

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine have been clinically proven to be very effective in aiding conception:
  • In a 2008 study published in the British Medical Journal it was found that acupuncture increased the odds of conceiving with IVF by 65%.
  • In a Colorado study of 114 women undergoing IVF, only 36% of those receiving conventional treatment became pregnant, compared with 51% of those who had acupuncture.
  • A 2005 study at Shanghai University found that acupuncture boosts fertility in men by improving sperm quality.
At your initial consultation a full medical history will be taken so that your Acupuncturist can tailor your treatment plan to your individual needs. You will also be informed of:
  1. the proposed length of treatment
  2. what to expect
  3. how you can tell that you are making progress.
We also treat a wide range of pregnancy-related complaints, such as morning sickness and threatened miscarriage, and in addition can offer treatments to induce birth or turn babies who're breech, as well as helping prepare pregnant women to have an easy birth.

HYPNOTHERAPY
Stress can have a detrimental effect on conception in a number of ways: it can delay the release of eggs and prevent the implantation of the fertilised egg. And by triggering the fight or flight response it can direct blood away from your uterus and instead send it to your limbs and the organs that your body perceives as being essential for survival.

A number of studies have shown that hypnotherapy can boost a couple's chances of conception:
  • A recent Israeli study showed that the success rate of IVF treatments doubled from 14% to 28% when the subjects underwent hypnosis during implantation.

Hypnotherapy utilises a variety of different techniques, from relaxation and anxiety reduction, through to helping you discover the fears and doubts that may be unconsciously preventing conception. A minimum of four sessions is usually required.

Our in-house hypnotherapist also teaches HypnoBirthing classes in which you can learn hypnosis, massage and breathing techniques to help you have an easier, less painful, natural birth.
