Lic.Ac. BSc (Hons) MBAcC, AFN, ITEC In 2004 Pouyan completed an MA in Oriental studies (Japanese) at the University of Venice, followed by a full year working and studying in Osaka (Japan). He is grateful that his longstanding fascination for far Eastern cultures took him to explore it from a different angle, its healing arts. His journey into healing started very early in life. Healing had always been present in my family and he grew up with a fascination for the body-mind relationship and ways we all can help ourselves achieve good health and realise our potential as human beings. Starting with meditation, followed by a big passion for yoga which took him to complete a yoga teacher training nearly 10 years ago followed by a four-months long stay in northern Thailand where he studied the Thai healing arts.
Today he is a fully qualified acupuncturist (Classical Chinese Acupuncture) and a full member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) as well as a member of the Acupuncture Fertility network. He studied at the Acupuncture at ICOM (International College of Oriental Medicine) - the oldest Acupuncture college in the UK - where he completed a BSc(Hons) in Integrated Western Medicine and Classical Chinese Acupuncture. Continuing to attend workshops for ongoing professional development, including postgraduate courses in acupuncture for infertility/IVF support and musculoskeletal issues as well as Master Tung acupuncture style and Japanese acupuncture.
He practices traditional acupuncture, which includes also cupping therapy, gua sha, moxibustion and bodywork when appropriate - as well as cosmetic (facial rejuvenation) acupuncture. In his practice he takes an integrated holistic approach. During consultation he takes the whole person into consideration to gain an overall picture, which is then addressed in the treatment.
Integral to his competence as a therapist his continual practice and self development through Yoga and meditation practice. As well as an acupuncturist he also is an holistic massage therapist, combining Thai techniques with holistic and deep tissue massage. He also finds it beneficial to include massage in his acupuncture treatments; at the time of writing he is a Tuina bodywork student.
